Rating by category:
Easy to get to places of interest for the most part located in the north of the city, if owning a car. Pool overlooking the river. Comfortable bed.
Room no quite illuminated. Breakfast poor. No shower gel, perfumed soap only the first day, after anonimous one.
Great breakfast and pool
It is far away from everything and they only offer a shuttle service one way.
Even though you are out of town the hotel provide a boat and van service morning and night. And I would recommend the boat service it's really relaxing and you can see all the gorgeous scenery along the river ping. A truly relaxing way to travel into town. The hotel restaurant is great, I can highly recommend the tofu and cashew nuts and you can eat overlooking the river, beautiful!
The location is a double edged sword. It's great for a getaway but be aware there is nothing in the local area you need to go into town for shops etc. You shouldn't pay more than 150 to 200 baht for a one way trip and the hotel will happily arrange a taxi for you.
If you visit chiang mai, don't hesitate to reserve the Lanna Mantra. Just outside the city, along the river, the quiet environment is a pleasure.
Be aware of the mosquitos
Very nice and well priced hotel. It would be great to get hotels like this in the south. It seems that all rooms have a view either to the small garden in the entrance or to the pool and river, both very pleasent. The personel in the restaurant was very nice and pool is very nice and relaxing too.
The staff in the reception was not as good as in the restaurant, They asked in the check in how I was going to pay and I chose cash, but it turned out that in the check out they had already charge my credit card and they don´t even planed to give an invoice.
The room is very basic, but very well designed. Beds and breakfast is good.
Far from the city centre, only attractive if your have your own car. The front-desk employees are not polite and not prepared for their job. We waited 2 times more than half an hour to check in. While the room was confirmed, they did not read their own confirmation and let us wait. Blaming and becoming angry about us ... while they themselves where the only responsable for their own mistakes. Very very guest-unfriendly.
The room and bathroom were excellent, the pool is cool (not heated) but beautiful. The hotel is located aproximately 25 minutes from the centre; there is a free boat to the river market in the mornings and a shuttle to the night market at 6, however, you have to find your own way back. There are no facilities near the hotel.
This hotel is just 10 min from the old town by tuk tuk and I feel very comfortable because location is by the Ping river and the swimming pool is excellent. Hotel offers free boat and bus shuttle in the morning to downtown. I will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Chiang Mai.
Emwaa, one of the staff. Tranquility of the place and setting. Left to our own devices.
Sometimes hard to get a drink at the bar....no one was ever about!
Whilst it was a little way out if town (approx 6klms) it was gorgeously situated on the Maeping River. Beautiful grounds and good value for money. If you are looking to walk and eat nearby, forget it, it is pretty much classed as out in the country. However free shuttle twice a day into town for shopping/site seeing and food at night Highly recommended if looking for a quiet relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle. Just what we wanted after a hectic stay in Bangkok Spacious rooms, quiet air cond and a lovely balcony. Remember to ask for a room with a view over the river. Also good wi fi and excellent breakfast, also great restaurant food by the river
Beautiful Lanna style hotel a bit of a way out of town (15 minutes and anything from 150 to 300 Baht by taxi). Very quiet and peaceful setting along the banks of the Ping River. I had an upstairs top rated room over looking the river. Masses of space, huge bed, everything worked and there are lots of functioning power points. Very good WiFi connection. Staff very helpful and friendly but English isn't their strong point (but then neither is my Thai) so you need to be a little patient. Having said that they were always very polite and once the communication problems were overcome, they were great. A very useful twice daily taxi is provided free of charge to take you into town (one way only) and there are bikes available on site for either hire or free (depending on where you are going and for how long). The nearest western style convenience store (Tesco Lotus in this case) is a 5 minute bike ride away.
Breakfast was a little disappointing as I was anticipating something all together more local. Instead you get what is termed an 'American' breakfast. But that very minor point aside, I can't say there was anything that disappointed me.
It's a nice hotel, great environment, near the Ping river,Very cheap price
A little bit far from the old town,no restaurant
It it much more that I could have expected in all aspects. It is absolutely beautiful, great private and large bungalows with terrace with view either to the Mae Ping, pond or garden. The best Thai place (the decoration is very typical ) for relaxing and not too distant from town. Quiet during the night which is a great plus. Very nice pool with river view, fantastic vegetation. They grow all different kinds of orchids and name them. The reception area is very cozy. There are available bikes to go pick up somehting at the closest market place. The attention is great. I really hope they keep it up since I did not find any thing to improve in terms of what they already have, but they are making a nice bar by the pool along the river. It will be fantastic. I came with the intention of staying 4 days and ended up staying 10, making it my base and from here several tours were arranged for me by the hotel staff. They have just about everything you can possibly need to feel comfortable and relaxed I really enjoyed my stay.
Frankly speaking I can not find anything that I did not like about this gorgeous place. I can only recommend it greatly.
Peaceful, low density, friendly staff, fulfill my entire relaxation holiday scheme. Room is clean and nice Only a bit disappointed with the main road buzy voices cause I was staying in the room near to the main entrance (faciing the lobby) I definitely will come back to this hotel again. See u soon!!!!!!!
Lanna Mantra is an exquisite hotel located along the Ping River. It is a peaceful hotel where you can rest after a busy day of touring. The staff were friendly and helpful, with good English skills. The hotel is located outside of the city, so they provided a shuttle service twice a day free of charge. Getting back from the city is simple enough as the hotel gives you a card with the address written in Thai, so it is easy for the Songtao drivers to know where to go. The breakfasts were delicious with a variety of choices to choose from. Well done to the team at Lanna Mantra!
